  • Mark your current location on the sectional chart. - Place the center of the ASCEND Plotter over your mark. Make sure the 360 on the plotter matches North on the chart.
  • Look through the EASYPLOTTER and find your new destination. Note the radial line closest to your diversion and turn to the radial. Make a gentle coordinated turn to the radial and start your timer
  • Find a ground reference on your chart (within 10 NM). This can be a lake, tower, road, river, hill, highway, cornfield etc. NOTE: You don't have to be over any of these landmarks, only ABEAM to perform the same calculations
  • Measure the distance from your turn to your chosen landmark. Stop your timer when you arrive at your landmark and calculate your groundspeed.
  • Calculate the ETA to your new destination. Reset your timer and keep your eyes peeled.
